How To Make A Vision Board For 2020

I love the idea of a vision board or dream board! Over the past few years I have used them to make my dream come to reality. I first heard about a vision board while reading the Secret. Which is a book that touches a lot on the idea of the Law of Attraction. And let me just say that I 100% believe this law! It did take me a little while to wrap my head around. But after implementing that tricks given in the secret on a daily basis I am completely reaping the benefits. That is why I wanted to write this blog post to share my personal experience with goal setting and vision boards more specifically.

Basically the idea behind a vision board is to make your goals and potential positive outcomes for your future self visible in the now! It really helps if you get into visualisation practises as you can see your goals right before your eyes and help you use your imagination. It is so true that if you focus on your goals for a few moment each day or many time throughout the day. combined with hard work of course you are going to achieve your goals, you must have belief and it is only a matter of time. A quote I heard says “Imagination creates reality.” by Richard Wagner and it is so true!

It is important to continue to use your vision board daily once you have made it. Put it somewhere where you will see it more then once per day, it is getting me excited just typing about this stuff!!

My DIY Vision Board

So how do you make a vision board? There are so many ways out there. I am going to show you what simple DIY process I did this year to make mine. Very simply I got a moving box and flattened it, then used the blank side/inside of the box to glue down images that represent my life direction and printed them out from my computer. So simple and easy. There is no need to get fancy materials, only if you wish!

What you need!

  • Cardboard from a box
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Images from magazines or printed from online
  • And a imagination for your life goals

That actually brings me to the next step in this vision board making process. You need some goals or outcomes you want to achieve in 2020 or years down the track. You could take your bucket list and turn it into a vision board. That would be a cool project!

But if you struggle with goal setting and are a little turned off the idea of setting goals. Thanks school! Just kidding, but I must say they kind of made it boring. I recommend you check out Jordan Petersons Future Authoring Program which goes through all the necessary questions to help you map out your life’s direction and help you to figure out your goals in life. This program with be able to help you figure out, “What do you hope to achieve in your life and what kind of person do you want to be?” The program is structured in a way where you get a series of questions and you just sit there and write out your answers.

The Future Authoring Program is designed to help you imagine your ideal future, three to five years down the road. What would your life be like if you could set it up in the manner that would be best for you? You will be asked to consider the people you admire, things you could do better, your educational and career goals, what habits you would like to improve, your family life, your social network, and your leisure activities.

Then you will be asked to write freely about your ideal future, without regard for grammar or spelling, for 15-20 minutes. It is best to use your imagination, to daydream, during this process. After that, you will be taken through a series of exercises that will help you specify, in detail, your ideal future, by summarizing, titling and prioritizing your goals, evaluating your motives, considering their personal and social impact, strategizing for their attainment, identifying potential obstacles and their solutions, monitoring your progress, and evaluating your decisions.

This should give you a great outlook on your life direction if you are not really sure. It will help you gain some clarity and you will get heaps of ideas for stuff you can put on your vision board.

What To Put On A Vision Board

So what do you put on your vision board then? Your goals right? Well yes, but let me give you some example with my own personal vision board to make it easy for you to understand.

I like to put stuff on my vision board that talks to my soul! So when I read a quote I only put it on the vision board if I can completely related and I get the feeling inside my tummy that is like “ohhh YEEESSSS”. It is a little hard to explain but yeah! So what do I have on my vision board?

Things or the materialist items you want to bring into your life! This might be the dream house you want to live in, or that sporty car you want to drive around town. For me I have my dream adventure bicycle that I want to go bikepacking with, my dream car, and the apartment I want to move to.

The things you want to do and experiences you want to live in 2020! This one is simple enough. Take your bucket list and put images that evoke emotions of excitement and wonder in you when you look at them. Experiences are the main things I am striving for this year as this is where the human experience is most rich, in my opinion, and that is with ‘experiences’. Weather that is places you want to travel to, for me I want to start a podcast, and some other blogs and youtube channels, meditation and go to meditation retreats, yoga, cold showers, build an apparel brand, read books, publish my own book. The list goes on and on.

Quotes from the people who inspire you and you want to be more like! Quotes are just great! You can use these quotes or even things that these people have done as a visual mentor for you to remind you if you want to achieve a particular goal that this personal has done it. Do it is possible!! Now go out and get it! An example for me is, Paul Walker, he was a bloke who lived his life with purpose and impacted so many lives for the better, one of his quotes I have on my vision board goes like this. “My philosophy is: If you can’t have fun, there’s no sense in doing it.

The person you want to become! For me that is being more spiritual and reaching a higher sense of self and spiritual awakening. Become someone who is financially independent and has financial freedom, for me that is $120,000 a year! Someone who gives back and helps as many people as possible, give out love to the universe!

Benefits Of Vision Board

There are so many benefits and reasons for your to make your own vision board. First it is just a fun project and if you like being creative you will love it.

Creates a visual connection and motivates you! It is great to put pictures and images on your vision board but also put emotions connected with your vision and the sensory experience of it all on there too. It can really motivate you to see your dream right before your eyes and when compared to your current situation you will want to close the gap.

Clarity! You get very clear and if you are a visual person like me then it is going to further make it super clear where you are going, the person you are going to become and what you are going to achieve!

It makes the dream become real, so you start the believing process! It is harder to understand that a dream you have envisioned in your mind is going to become your reality. But there is something about putting it down on paper or in this case a board that is so much more powerful. Over time a vision board will slowly begin to transform your inner belief system into one which is more confident, certain, and self-motivated.

That is all I have for today! Thank you for stopping by and reading this blog post. hopefully you are going to start your own vision board and create a vision for your future. I really hope you do, it is a really fun project that has only good outcomes. Let me know how you go!
